The Los Angeles Angels are in a really bizarre spot proper now. They let go of their supervisor Kurt Suzuki and their interim normal supervisor John Mozeliak mentioned that he is not going to be staying on past December. The group has not been formally bought to new principal proprietor Stan Kroenke but and whereas it was assumed that might occur on the GM conferences, that’s now unclear based mostly on reporting from Jeff Fletcher. The Angels aren’t going to rent a brand new GM till the sale formally goes via they usually in all probability received’t rent a brand new supervisor till they’ve a GM in place which signifies that they’re basically in limbo.
As if issues couldn’t get any worse, Albert Pujols goes to interview with the Houston Astros for his or her managerial emptiness. Pujols has been seen as a logical match because the supervisor of the Angels given the truth that he performed for the Halos for years and remains to be technically on their payroll, so if he had been to as an alternative find yourself because the supervisor of an American League West rival that might actually be a intestine punch to Los Angeles.
The robust factor is that the Angels can’t actually do something about it. They may carry Pujols in to interview, as he did final yr, but when they supplied him the job with out a GM in place that runs the danger that whoever they rent may not get together with Pujols and the 2 might butt heads. It’s customary follow for the GM or president of baseball operations to pick the supervisor so till they rent that particular person they’re mainly simply frozen.
Albert Pujols has wished to be a giant league supervisor for some time
Pujols has made his want to handle within the massive leagues fairly clear. He has managed a Dominican Winter League group and managed the Dominican Republic group throughout the 2026 World Baseball Traditional so he has some teaching expertise along with his Corridor of Fame profession as a participant. He would make a lot sense for an Angels group that’s in determined want of pleasure and will actually capitalize on Arte Moreno’s departure as majority proprietor of the franchise.
The product on the sector has not been excellent for a very long time because the Angels haven’t had a profitable season since 2015 they usually misplaced 100 video games for the primary time in franchise historical past in 2026. An enormous identify like Pujols may very well be the man they should get issues circled but when he finally ends up going to the Astros whereas the Halos are basically caught in impartial then he may find yourself tormenting the franchise for years to return.
