The Philadelphia Phillies could possibly be available in the market for a second baseman to exchange Luis Arraez.
Philadelphia acquired Arraez on the deadline, and he match the crew nicely. However he’s a pending free agent and will have curiosity from different groups. So, the Phillies may take a look at different choices, particularly if the crew desires to make some modifications to their roster after one other early playoff exit.
Philadelphia Phillies Predicted to Signal Jazz Chisholm Jr.
If the Phillies do select to not carry again Arraez, Philadelphia ought to have loads of choices.
Forward of free company starting, MLB analyst Josh Harper of SNY predicted the Phillies will signal New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. to be the crew’s starter.
“Jazz Chisholm Jr.: Phillies. After getting outbid for Luis Arraez, their commerce pickup final August, I feel the Phillies will persuade themselves {that a} crew with an ageing core may gain advantage from the athleticism and pace Chisholm would supply at second base. And possibly they’d be proper, as Chisholm’s capability stays engaging at the very least on the floor. Even in a down 12 months with the Yankees, he stole 41 bases and hit 19 dwelling runs. Admittedly a good distance from the 50-50-year he predicted again in February, however nonetheless productive,” Harper wrote.
“Then again, signing Chisholm is perhaps a mistake if he performs with the identical lack of expertise he did with the Yanks final season. Whether or not or not it’s making that ill-advised throw on a DP flip within the postseason or enjoying second base with a lollipop in his mouth. In any case, the dichotomy between expertise and consciousness will make it fascinating to see simply what Chisholm’s market is within the coming weeks. The one near-certainty is the Yankees received’t re-sign him.”
Chisholm is a two-time All-Star and could be a pleasant match for the Phillies. After a down 12 months, he must be a superb guess for a bounceback, and he may add some extra offense to Philadelphia’s lineup that was very inconsistent.
How Would Chisholm Slot in Philadelphia?
Chisholm would merely exchange Arraez and could be the crew’s beginning second baseman.
Nonetheless, relying on different strikes the Phillies make, Chisholm may additionally slide again to 3rd base. He offers the crew some extra flexibility on the infield.
After a down season, he may be in search of a short-term deal to rebuild his worth. Which may make him a superb guess for the Phillies.
Chisholm may hit in the course of the order and add extra pop to the Phillies lineup than Arraez gave them. He hit. 231 with 19 dwelling runs and 55 RBIs. It was a down 12 months, as his profession excessive is 31 dwelling runs, which he did in 2025.
