New York Yankees Linked to Seiya Suzuki
New York may very well be lively this offseason, because the Yankees might look to signal one of many high free agent sluggers.
MLB analyst Joe Najarian of SI predicted the Yankees will signal Seiya Suzuki from the Chicago Cubs, which can make Aaron Decide a full-time DH.
“Seiya Suzuki has been productive in his first 5 MLB seasons, however 2026 was when he put every thing collectively. Along with slashing .270/.368/.473 with 58 extra-base hits (together with 26 homers), the 32-year-old emerged as a defensive asset with 14 Defensive Runs Saved in proper discipline and an 8 Fielding Run Worth, per Baseball Savant. Suzuki’s 4.6 fWAR in 2026 was additionally one of the best in his profession,” Najarian wrote.
“The Yankees would wish to make fairly a number of strikes to make this work, although. As a result of Suzuki is a full-time proper fielder, Aaron Decide would turn out to be the on a regular basis DH whereas Spencer Jones and Cody Bellinger play middle and left discipline, respectively. It could additionally imply eliminating each commerce deadline additions (Luis Garcia Jr. and Heliot Ramos) and Giancarlo Stanton. However after his injury-plagued season, Decide will inevitably be restricted to DH duties sooner or later. And given how good Suzuki was in 2026, the Yankees’ post-Decide outfield could be in superb form in the event that they signal the Japanese slugger.”
Suzuki could be a serious addition to the Yankees offense, however transferring Decide to a full-time DH could be a shock. But, as a result of accidents, maybe that’s essential to hold the captain wholesome and out there for a full season.
