Ought to the Cubs Commerce for Gavin Stone?
Gavin Stone has endured some shoulder accidents over the previous two seasons, which has stored him sidelined from MLB.
Nevertheless, he carries a variety of promise as a younger (28)-ish starter.
Here’s what Miller notes about why a possible deal might work:
“The Cubs have a ton of labor to do on their beginning rotation, however the silver lining is they need to have loads of room within the funds to make it occur. Their farm system isn’t nice, although, so getting one yr of an ace like Logan Gilbert or Drew Rasmussen can be robust to tug off. Possibly they spend massive in free company and commerce for a buy-low choice like Gavin Stone? He missed all of 2025 to shoulder surgical procedure and was unable to make it again to the large leagues in 2026, however he’s a strong ‘possibly’ for a rotation spot in 2027 if traded.”
Throughout 171.1 complete IP in MLB (2023, 2024), Stone carries an ERA of 4.52 over 29 begins (138 strikeouts).
One thing to consider when doubtlessly buying and selling for Gavin Stone is the truth that he’s very unproven, which might drive the asking worth all the best way down, and he could possibly be a pleasant addition to the again finish of the Cubs rotation if he’s in a position to make 20+ begins in a season going ahead.
Given the Dodgers’ luxurious of beginning pitchers, Stone is also checked out as expendable.
