The New York Yankees will definitely have a busy offseason forward, and after an abrupt ending to their 2026 marketing campaign, the entrance workplace has a number of main selections to make with star gamers.
Among the many many free brokers the Yankees have, the largest names embrace Paul Goldschmidt, Trent Grisham, and Jazz Chisholm Jr.
If the Yankees are going to decide on the ‘full makeover’ route, then all of the sudden query marks begin to encompass different members of the Yankees roster. A kind of gamers is Anthony Volpe, who cut up time between the minors and majors in 2026, however is predicted to play a much bigger function with the crew going ahead after displaying constructive indicators of enchancment in 2026.
Lately, in a assume piece for SNY.television, author Anthony McCarron wrote about whether or not Volpe ought to ‘keep’ or ‘go’ on the Yankees roster.

Volpe Predicted to Keep Put in New York
Yankees followers, let me know should you would agree with this choice, however McCarron expects Anthony Volpe to remain put with the Yankees… a minimum of till the beginning of the 2027 season:
“It’s price maintaining Volpe to see if he can compete for the second base job. In his three full main league seasons, he averaged 17 homers and 23 steals. He’s had some moments within the postseason, too. World Sequence grand slam, anybody? At worst, Volpe is a speedy utility participant. MLB groups crave depth. Lombard, as spectacular as he’s, has solely 47 video games of expertise within the majors, together with 5 postseason begins. He’s 21. If he experiences some wobbles subsequent yr, it is perhaps clever to have Volpe and José Caballero as choices at brief.”
McCarron additionally floated the thought of Anthony Volpe taking part in third base, which may be an answer within the Ryan McMahon conundrum.
Nonetheless, I’d agree that Volpe could possibly be a profit at second base, and he doesn’t even essentially need to play day-after-day. As all the time, although, Volpe’s identify is probably going going to hold hypothesis all all through the offseason, as a result of he actually is that polarizing of a participant.

Throughout 70 video games performed (220 at-bats), Volpe batted .245 with two residence runs, one triple, 12 doubles, 28 RBI, and an OPS+ of 84.
His residence run energy dipped a bit bit, however Volpe additionally hit for a better batting common in comparison with latest seasons, and he additionally confirmed a bit extra plate self-discipline.
