One potential commerce goal because the New York Yankees seek for a Ryan McMahon alternative could possibly be Texas Rangers’ infielder Josh Jung.
Just lately, FanSided.com’s Stephen Parello urges the Yankees to make “seven strikes” this offseason to revive their “mystique and aura”, and considered one of them is buying and selling for Rangers’ All-Star Josh Jung.
Merely put, whatever the contract scenario, the Yankees want to dump McMahon this offseason, as his 0.0 bWAR in 120+ video games simply isn’t going to chop it for New York’s future aspirations.

Why Yankees Commerce for Josh Jung Makes Sense
Among the many seven strikes for the Yankees to make, as proposed by Parello, the MLB author feels fairly passionately that buying and selling for Josh Jung might actually profit the 2027 Yankees:
“The issue with changing him is twofold. For one, he prices $16 million, which means the urge for food so as to add one other massive wage on the place is small. Secondly, the free-agent market at third base is shallower than a puddle. However the commerce market might have an answer. Enter Josh Jung. Texas Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Younger has mentioned that his high priorities are getting youthful, more healthy, and extra athletic. Jung has a little bit of a checkered damage historical past, however extra importantly, he could possibly be squeezed out by the defensively superior Ezequiel Duran and high prospect Sebastian Walcott.”
Josh Jung batted .299 in 2026 with 12 HR, 42 RBI, and an OPS+ of 139, which is worlds higher than McMahon’s manufacturing on the plate.
Additionally, Jung is a right-handed batter, which might give the Yankees a extra balanced assault up and down the lineup.
Because it stands proper now, if the Yankees do transfer on from McMahon, Jose Caballero would slot in because the on a regular basis third baseman, which… I’m undecided if that’s a lot of an improve both.
