The Milwaukee Brewers have by no means accomplished this earlier than.
They’ve made a World Sequence, though that was again after they performed within the American League.
However the best way they’ve began the Nationwide League Championship Sequence towards the Los Angeles Dodgers is model new, historic for this franchise that has existed for greater than a half-century.
The Brewers lead the Dodgers two video games to none.
Let’s clarify what makes that so notable.
Brewers Make Historical past
That is the primary time that the Brewers have ever held a 2-0 lead in a League Championship Sequence, in response to The Athletic’s Jayson Stark.
Nevertheless it’s additionally the primary time they’ve led a best-of-seven collection by any two-game margin, not simply 2-0.
“By no means, in any of their 57 seasons in Milwaukee, has a Brewers workforce led a League Championship Sequence (in both league) by two video games,” Stark writes. “Not 2-0. Not 3-1. Not 4-2. Not ever. In actual fact, a Brewers workforce has by no means led any best-of-seven postseason collection by two video games. By no means. Till now. That’s such a wild truth, for a franchise that has been round for over half a century, that I wasn’t even certain the members of this workforce would consider it.”
Later in his article, Stark quoted a number of gamers, who mainly appreciated that they’re up 2-0 but additionally gave the usual athlete reply that there’s nonetheless work to be accomplished.
And that’s definitely true. Nevertheless it additionally emphasizes how particular this Brewers workforce is.

Not like Final Yr
The Brewers acquired to this stage final yr, too. They met the Dodgers within the NLCS.
However they didn’t go up 2-0. They didn’t go up in any respect.
The Dodgers swept the Brewers proper out of the playoffs en path to a repeat World Sequence title.
It needed to be humbling and painful for a Milwaukee workforce that had put collectively such a very good common season solely to be stifled like that.
The defeat caused all of the discourse you might think about about how the Brewers’ type of play merely wasn’t geared up to work within the playoffs.
However how about now? The Brewers certain appear to be working simply positive on this postseason.
The Dodgers are formidable and can get the subsequent three video games at Dodger Stadium, so every part may change.
However the Brewers are already in a spot that they as a franchise have by no means been earlier than with this 2-0 lead. They may as nicely preserve making extra historical past.
