St. Louis Cardinals Cut 2 Players Before Giants Series Finale

The Cardinals reinstated Strzelecki from the injured record on Wednesday earlier than designating him for project.

By designating Urías for project, the Cardinals cleared a roster spot for rookie star JJ Wetherholt, who has been reinstated from the IL.

The Cardinals didn’t make a corresponding transfer for Strzelecki. He wasn’t on the lively roster due to his IL stint.

Strzelecki and Urías will now undergo waivers.

The Cardinals signed Urías to a one-year, $2 million deal over the offseason.

Urías missed over three months this season because of proper elbow lateral epicondylitis.

The infielder has hit .151/.260/.326 with 4 house runs and 9 RBI over 43 video games this season.

Urías spent the vast majority of his profession with the Baltimore Orioles. He additionally had a short stint with the Houston Astros.

Since making his MLB debut in 2020, Urías has slashed .252/.317/.399 with 54 house runs and 224 RBI.
