The Yankees chosen Lombard, 21, within the first spherical (No. 26) of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Gulliver Prep Faculty in Miami. His youthful brother, shortstop Jacob Lombard, was chosen by the Miami Marlins within the first spherical (No. 14 total) of the 2026 MLB Draft.
Per his scouting report on MLB Pipeline, Lombard is projected to hit for extra energy than contact and is a powerful defender.
