The New York Yankees have been rumored to make use of Anthony Volpe as a possible commerce chip this offseason.
However who may the group get in return?
In the event that they enter a cope with a selected Nationwide League staff, they may purchase a haul that features a younger MLB All-Star infielder.
Yankees Commerce Pitch Lands CJ Abrams for Anthony Volpe
Stephen Parello of FanSided lately proposed a commerce between the Yankees and the Washington Nationals.
His pitch sends 26-year-old CJ Abrams to New York, whereas the Yankees would ship out Volpe, together with three others.
Right here’s his suggestion:
Yankees obtain:
- 2B/SS CJ Abrams
Nationals obtain:
- RHP Elmer Rodriguez
- RHP Rory Fox
- 2B/SS Anthony Volpe
- RHP Mac Heuer
If the Yankees land Abrams, they’d shut an enormous hole of their infield and offload Volpe.
“Anthony Volpe turns into redundant for New York, because the double-play combo turns into George Lombard Jr. at brief and Abrams at second, whereas Jose Caballero handles utility infielder duties,” Parello wrote. “He’ll give the Nationals three extra years of staff management and could possibly be a change-of-scenery candidate who can fill the void in the course of Washington’s infield.”
As he additional famous, “Giving up this a lot expertise will damage, however the Yankees are higher off with Abrams within the fold. Rodriguez is behind Warren and Ryan Weathers within the pecking order and doesn’t have a lot alternative to interrupt via the Yankees’ rotation, with Cam Schlittler, Max Fried, Gerrit Cole, and Carlos Rodón having the primary 4 rotation spots locked up for the foreseeable future.”
Now, this could be pricey for New York. They’ve deep pockets, however reaching in for Abrams may increase some eyebrows.
Abrams’ MLB Profession
The San Diego Padres chosen Abrams with the No. 6 total decide within the first spherical of the 2019 MLB draft.
He made his debut in April 2022, however his time with the Padres was short-lived.
In August 2022, they traded him to the Nationals alongside Jarlin Susana, MacKenzie Gore, Robert Hassell III, Luke Voit and James Wooden.
San Diego acquired Josh Bell and Juan Soto.
By the tip of his fifth MLB season this yr, he was hitting .261/.336/.497 with an .833 OPS and 33 homers via 152 video games.
He posted 30 doubles, 4 triples and 106 RBIs.
If Abrams finally ends up hitting the commerce market, the Yankees wouldn’t be the one ballclub calling up Washington.
