World Series MVP Freddie Freeman fought through an ankle injury down the stretch of the regular season.

Throughout the postseason, and for weeks, he looked like a shell of himself before catching fire in the Fall Classic and ripping four homers while driving 12 runs to take down the New York Yankees.

It was no surprise Freeman had to have his ankle cleaned up in the offseason, and he recently shared a message to the fans after undergoing ankle surgery.

Freeman posted a picture of himself recovering on Instagram, flashing his infamous smile and giving a thumbs-up with his ankle elevated and in a splint.

The picture was captioned, “Worth it for the ring.”

Freeman hit just .259 in September and had five hits (all singles) and one walk over the first two postseason rounds with no home runs and one RBI.

It was no secret he was dealing with an ankle injury as he missed a few games in the NLDS and NLCS while dealing with it, but he looked as good as ever in the World Series.

Injuries are not something fans are used to with Freddie, as he is one of the last true ironmen of the sport and strives to play every game each season.

It’s great to see him in good spirits, and there should be no doubt he’ll be ready to go next season.
